Transport to the Millennium Dome
The World's Biggest Dome - "Millennium Experience"
London is one of the world’s most accessible cities. There are direct
scheduled flights to 390 international destinations and trains to Paris, Lille
and Brussels.
Britain’s road and rail networks converge on London. The Millennium site
will offer a choice of transport that will combine to provide quick and easy
access.
The site itself will be car-free. At its heart will be the largest
underground station in Europe, on the Jubilee Line.
Starting in 1999, it will provide 24 trains an hour running in each direction.
There will also be parking for 300 coaches.
There will be direct access by river from central London and shuttle boats
from Greenwich to the Millennium site. Park and Ride and Park and Sail sites are
planned. An additional transit route is proposed to bring visitors from the rail
network at Charlton directly into the Millennium Experience. Provision will
also be made for cyclists and there will be a new Thames
walkway from Greenwich town centre.
In agreement with the London Borough of Greenwich a controlled parking zone
will be installed around the site to protect local residential areas.
